Character counter
A live character and word counter that checks your caption against the real limits for Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X, TikTok and YouTube — before you hit publish.
Three steps, no learning curve
Paste or type your caption
The counter updates live as you type, counting characters, words and lines.
Watch each network limit
A row per network shows how much room is left and turns red when you go over.
Trim and publish with confidence
Cut to fit the tightest network you are posting to, then schedule it in the product.
Get more out of it
- The first 125 characters of an Instagram caption show before the “more” fold — front-load the point.
- X counts links as 23 characters no matter the true length, so a long URL is not the problem people think it is.
- LinkedIn truncates around 210 characters in the feed; put the hook there and the detail below.
Questions about this tool
Are the network limits current?
They reflect each network’s published caption and post limits at the time of writing. Platforms change these occasionally, so treat the counter as a strong guide and check the platform if you are close to a hard cap.
Does it count emoji correctly?
Yes. Emoji and other multi-byte characters are counted the way the networks count them, so what you see here matches what the platform will accept.
Is anything sent to a server?
No. The counter runs entirely in your browser. Your text never leaves the page.
