FYP (for you page)

An algorithmic discovery feed that shows content based on interests, not who you follow.

Distribution

The for-you page is TikTok's main feed, and the model for similar interest-based feeds on Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts and elsewhere. Instead of showing posts from accounts you follow, it serves content the ranking system predicts you will like based on what you watch, rewatch, finish, like, share and search for.

It matters because it is where discovery happens. A post that never followers can appear on thousands of strangers' for-you pages if it earns strong signals early, which is how small accounts break out. It shifts the game from "grow a following, then post" to "make content worth showing to strangers".

To land on it, optimise for the first three seconds, high completion and rewatch rate, and shares — the signals these feeds weight most. Pick a clear niche so the system knows who to show you to, and lean into the short-video formats these surfaces favour.
